Having recently sponsored several events, including a major conference, with Women for Afghan Women, the Barnard Center for Research on Women is committed to supporting organizations and projects that address the situation of women in Afghanistan. We are proud to contribute to your film, which provides an invaluable commentary on women's lives and struggles in the Muslim world, especially in the aftermath of September 11th.

Dear Tenaz,

Thank you for giving us a peek at your work-in-progress, "Voices of Muslim Women."

Obviously, the Middle East is an area of intense international interest, especially here in the US, following September 11. In addition, you've managed to find Muslim women who are outspoken and strong-minded, at a time when their identities are still obscure to many in the western world.

At this time, given the nascent stage of your film, we are unable to get involved in its development or production.
However, once you are closer to a rough-cut, please resubmit for possible consideration to HBO America Undercover or Cinemax Reel Life.

In the meantime, we'd like to wish you all the best in the continued production of your film.
